Warriors v Washington Cricket Club WCC-WMCB on Sun 08 Sep 2013 at 10:00 AM
Washington Cricket Club Won By 210 Runs

Match report Conference Trophy is Ours !!

This was our last division game against the friendly Warriors. WCC plays without 5-6 of their core players as the leadership chose to give chances to the debutants namely JB (Jagdeeshwar B) and Shiva (Shivank J). Warriors recently sealed the Inter Division Trophy and their current form could cost us the DIVISION Trophy which we won’t win unless Damascus loses their last game.

Viral wins the toss and puts WCC to BAT. Taran and Palash involuntarily get to face the new ball ;). As our regular openers were not available for this game. Taran (0) gets a terrific first ball to deal with and the ball does just enough to kiss his bat and their WK bags it safely. Score 0 for one. Shounak comes along and some damage control was on the cards. Palash and Shawny played carefully till the next water break for 60 runs on the board in 15 overs. After the break Palash (20) chased a short and wide ball, just to edge it to their WK. Reminded me of Ravi Anna cursing “Refocus after the water break, Don’t be too over-confident”.. Sorry Anna will keep this in mind.

With Palash out brings Pradeep in ;) who was beaten by Saurabh K hands down for the first three balls but right after that PK was on the move and was scoring at will. Shawny and PK ran hard as it was needed at the new Mark Twain this year. This partnership sealed the deal for WCC as we were looking for a score of 160+. Unfortunately good running between the wickets sometimes can cost you a wicket. We were 120 for 2 in 25 overs when Pradeep (31) gets run-out but that brings Kalyan to take care of the Damages. Kal starts carefully but then responds to the need of the hour. What these top order guys did best was survive Saurabh and Viren who were bowling their beautifully. Kal (33) smashed the other three bowlers out of the park but got out to one of their spinners. Too bad for the opposition with Kal gone brings Viral in ;) LOL.. Two balls are lost and WCC start their celebrations knowing what is next. Shawny and Viral run hard too for their runs but a tired Shounak (66) tries to whack a wide ball out of the park but gets caught. Well played Shounak you played 36 overs, holding up one end and annoying the opponents for that long. Keep em coming !! With Shawny gone brings one of our finest RaviTeja ;) who had been given strict orders to give the strike to Viral which he did effortlessly  And on the other hand Viral played a Captain’s innings beating Shawny’s and Palash’s record at Mark Twain this year scoring a belligerent 68 just off 35 balls 

We finished at 260 for 5 in forty overs. Washington could have batted for another forty overs given that we had Rajiv, Jagan, Shivank and JB to go ;)

Great score but need to be aware of their top order big guns too who started off in style. Jagan and Ravi started the proceedings and were kinda unlucky as Umar was going after everything. His slogs cost our best a lotta runs but Mr. Dependable (Jagan) skinned two of their top batsmen, with Umar and Lefty Jishnu gone WCC had the upper hand. Viren still out there kept attacking but we dropped him. Seems dangerous but Viral makes the bowling change I would never have. Brings the debutant ON, Jagdeeshwar B (JB) who goes onto break our opponents back by breaking their stumps ;) Probably the quickest in the league but with the support of the unplayable RaviTeja. JB got to two hat-trick chances in one game which is unheard off. JB with six wickets out of which one LBW, one super catch by Pradeep in the slips and four clean bowleds. His magical spell sealed the deal for WCC. Shivank wasn’t left with much but bowled a terrific spell and also got rid off one of their capable tail-enders Saurabh. There was a time when our fast bowlers were bowling hard especially RaviTeja and JB, I thanked God that I am not playing for Warriors ;) Worst part of the game was when Viral took 4 balls to get rid off their last man standing Subhash ;). By now it was all over for Warriors who were packed for 51 runs.

What I like about our batting lineup is with a batsman out brings in a more lethal bat onto the crease ;). This win translates into the fact that we are Conference Champions as well!! Well played and keep playing harder!!
