Match report Well it was one of those days where we couldn't get a sneak peek at the wicket as the mat was already on it and it would be a tough call during toss.
Luckily Kalyan lost the toss that he does so naturally and Gymkhana CC elected to bat.

Sameer and Karan started the proceedings and were right on the money starting ball one. It was a dead track but Karan seemed to have different ideas generating more pace and mixing it up intelligently with his cutters and swing. Sameer on the other hand took the pace off and relied on the track and his capability to swing the ball both ways. Both read the wicket well and bowled with discipline. I was personally impressed and would advocate on how bowlers need to adapt to different conditions on different wickets. Although the first couple of overs went for four (Karan) and ten (Sameer) runs respectively these seasoned veterans came back with a bang. Karan held one end with dot balls and Sameer picked wickets at will. By the sixth over Sameer had his fifer and at one stage our opening pair reduced them to 25 for 6 by the end of seventh over. Couple of Sameer's wickets were aided with some fantastic catching by Raj and Ankit. Raj covered a lot of ground to bag a top edged skier and Ankit with a valiant diving effort to get rid of their best bat. Kalyan went for the kill and bowled out Karan and Sameer a move that paid off well as the ball was still doing enough to wrap their innings off. Sameer finished with 4-0-23-5 and Karan was most economical with 4-0-9-1. Terrific spell by both!! In came Madhu and Anudeep with four tailenders up for the grabs. Madhu bowled wicket to wicket and was rewarded with a couple
of scalps. Then comes Ankit and started off with a stump rattling delivery. Deepak and Ritwik were brought in to cleanup the last wicket. But at this stage they were 82 in 13 overs. Which clearly goes to say that it was hard cleaning up the tail. But one great take away from this innings was our ground fielding and catching. Kudos to Ankit, Raj, Kalyan, Karan for holding on to those chances.

Given the way the wicket behaved 83 would be a tricky target and we really didn't have much clue about their bowling attack.

Madhu and Pratik Patel started the proceedings. Madhu was flashy and played his shots but Pratik on the other hand was seriously unlucky to get LBW to a ball going down leg and hitting his thigh high. Raj came in and found it tough to get going as the bowler did what Sameer did to them by bowling floaters. Given Raj's attacking style played a great shot down long on just to get caught to some great catching in the deep. At this stage we were 17 for 2 in just four overs.
Sameer replaces Raj and batted carefully along with Madhu relying on singles and a few freebies thanks to the left and right combination. At the end of ten overs and thanks to this partnership we were cruising along with 48 runs on the board with two down. Tenth and eleventh overs saw the end of this duo to a ball that didn't bounce and a wide ball down the leg side to give the wicket keeper something to cheer about. Kalyan and Ritwik brought us home with some sensible batting. They waited for the bad balls just to make the most out of it and chased the score down in 15 overs.
