Washington Cricket Club WCC-WMCB v Nova on Sat 16 May 2015 at 3:00 PM
Washington Cricket Club Won by 11 runs (D/L Method)
Match report
The in-form WCC took on NOVA at Kenmoor.NOVA won the toss and chose to bat first.WCC started with Jagga and Sam and they both bowled a magical spell. They were not difficult to score but they were impossible. They both swung the ball and the NOVA batsman had no clue.Jagga drew first blood when the frustrated batsman tried to hit him out of the park but only managed to give a dolly to Viral at mid-on.On the other end Sam beat the bat consistently and eventually found the edge and Pratik took a very good catch at first slip. And then the spin twins of WCC bowled in tandem and Viral struck in his first over.Ankit then bowled a dream over, he obliterated NOVA by picking 4 wickets in one
over and was unfortunate to miss the fifer.Akshar was then introduced into the attack and he bowled with high intensity. At one stage it looked like NOVA would fold in 10 overs for under 50 but they somehow survived 17.4 overs and managed 62.
62 for WCC, who opened with Sam and Viral should be easier than a walk in the park.Despite the very small target, Sam and Viral did not take it easy and started very cautiously against a decent attack, beside it was getting dark and the pitch was assisting with uneven bounce. It appeared as if WCC would cruise to a 10 wicket victory but Viral(9) got caught in the deep trying to hit one
out of the ground.TC walked in next and the Delhi dudes looked to finish off but Sam(24) got out LBW with just 19 needed. It was getting really dark as it threatened to rain and WCC was ahead in the run rate.Kal(0) joined TC and got bowled the first ball and laid a golden.By then NOVA started sledging as they felt they were on top.Rajiv(0) went in next only to be stumped the first ball
giving the bowler a hat-trick.Palash(4) went it next and by then it was dark and they brought their fast bowler knowing that it was difficult to sight the ball and Palash was eventually cleaned up. Raj (0 n.o) and TC(2 n.o) were at the crease before the heavens opened and the game awarded to WCC based on run-rate.
WCC is now 5-0 and will play the Windies in the last league game.
