Match report The much awaited clash between two undefeated teams,WCC and Mavericks fell on a sunny Mother's day and WCC prevailed defeating a very confident Mavericks side in a comprehensive and convincing fashion.

Having won the toss WCC elected to bat.As usual Raj and Sameer opened the innings.Both batsman looked in silky smooth touch right from the start as neither were troubled by any of the Mavericks' bowlers.Raj(21 off 36) looked
good and this was by far the best innings that Sameer(40 off 50) had played so far this season.Both were looking solid picking singles and putting the bad balls away.Raj was unlucky to get out to a ball that appeared to be above the waist full toss.WCC got a good start with 60 odd for 1.Anil bhai (AB) walked in at #3.Anybody who saw his innings would not think that this was his first game of the season.He looked in sublime form smacking the ball all over the park.He was brutal to the opponents punishing anything that was marginally loose.And some of the sixers he hit even awed the opponents who could do nothing but admire and appalaud.Although Mavericks' ground fielding was very good they shot themselves in the foot by dropping a few catches and none costlier than AB's.Sameer got out LBW when the score was around 120.Viral made a master stroke decision by promoting Monil ahead of Thoufiq with a free license to kill.Monil(19 off 9) did not disappoint and hit a couple of huge sixers before getting caught on the boundary. AB on the other end looked set for a huge innings and reached his 50.And at the second water break WCC were in a formidable position around 160/3 and Mavericks were looking right down the barrel with the likes of Viral,Kal, Rajiv and Jagga to follow.AB and Thoufiq took the score past 200 before Thoufiq(13 off 14) was out caught.AB (79 off 84) played a rare loose shot and got out caught.Brilliant innings.It did not take long for Viral(29 off 19) to get in the act and he hit 3 lusty sixers before getting caught in the deep.Kal(10 off 9) soon followed trying to up the scoring.Two huge sixers by Jagga(13 n.o off 4)ensured that WCC crossed 250.
Rajiv, Madhu and Roshar all perished trying to accelerate.WCC were yet again bowled out within 40 overs (39.5) but not before scoring 263, a daunting task against a good WCC bowling attack.

Maverick's started off cautiously against a disciplined new ball attack of WCC as both Jagga(2 for 36) and Sam(2 for 26) bowled to their field.Sam was outstanding bowling two maidens in a row and picked up a wicket.Umar tried to break the shackles by looking to hit everything but only managed to give Sam his second wicket when AB took an outstanding catch diving forward.Maverick's were two down with little on the board.Ideal start for WCC defending a huge total. Maverick's looked to consolidate through Maqsood Nauman(lil' Nohmi as he is called by the Mavs') and Junaid.Runs started to flow for the Mavs as they ran well between the wickets putting pressure on the WCC ground fielding and hitting the odd boundary inbetween and the Mave were maintaining a healthy run rate of 6 an over. Junaid especially looked aggressive playing some clean and crisp strokes. When things looked to be falling in place for the Mavs adversity struck in the form of Madhu when he picked up Junaid(35) who tried to flick a harmless ball on the leg stump straight to Sam, who took a good catch at square leg.In came Sardar but his stay at the wicket was brief as he couldn't resist a nice flighted delivery from Madhu and was nicely caught by Monil in the deep.Two quick and key wickets put WCC truly on top.Perhaps Mavs made a tactical mistake of sending in Khalid who laid a golden egg and their captain Asim(2) ahead of the in-form Nohmi.Both the wickets were claimed by Madhu who
obliterated their entire middle order. Nohmi was the next man in and it IMHO was too little too late as the Mavs were reeling at around 120 for 7. Nohmi(40) played a little cameo knocking a few out of the park and he was helped by WCC when they dropped him on three different ocassions and all off the bowling of Madhu(4 for 42) denying him a very well deserved 5 for.The decision to bring back Jagga into the attack reaped immediate results as he got rid of the dangerous Nohmi, coutesy of a very well judged catch by Roshan and cleaned up Shaum.The match was very truly over in the 27th over when Mavs are around 170/9 and it was just a formality before WCC wraps this one up.But the last pair of Mavs played really well and managed to frustrate WCC by batting 13 overs and taking the score past 200.Rajiv picked his first wicket when Umar was out caught.

Yet another easy win for WCC.Although the batting and bowling were top notch the fielding left a lot to be desired.

Writer's chioce for MoM: Anil Bhai and Madhu. AB brought the Mavs to their knees with the bat and Madhu broke their back with the ball.
