Match report WCC dominated UCC in what turned out to be a on sided affair. A resurgent UCC with a strong batting line up is the first real test to WCC in the 2014 season and this was anticipated to go down to the wire.But it was not to be, as some sensational swing bowling by WCC ensured another easy victory.

UCC won the toss and elected to bat first on what appeared to be a lovely batting track at Oxon Hill. WCC got a good start when the ever dependable Jagan bowled a maiden. Sameer made it a great start by getting their opener to nick one to the keeper. Both the bowlers swung the ball at will and kept the scoring in check. Runs were tough to score as both the opening bowlers bowled a tidy line and length. UCC batsman perished one by one trying to hit their way out. First it was a mistimed hit by their other opener that went miles up in the air and was caught by Shounak, a superb and well judged catch. Jagan (0/15) bowled an awesome spell and was unlucky to go wicketless. Mrunal was then introduced and he also swung the ball in both directions and he got Viren to edge one to the keeper. Monil took over from Sameer(2/14) who looked like the sultan of swing as he toyed with the UCC batsman. Monil got rid of Tapinder who was one of the only three batsman to get into double figures and Shreyas caught by Viral in the deep. And on the other end carnage started when Mrunal cleaned up Anoop with a delivery that came into him. Mrunal castled Manoj with an absolute crackerjack of a delivery. The ball started on the leg stump and curved away from the batsman and hit the base of the off stump.Ball of the day! Viral chipped in with a wicket and Mrunal cleaned up Jitin with another beauty that swung. UCC managed to put up some fight with the last pair adding 30 odd runs.The innings came to a sad end when Sushant,their top scorer got his knee twisted trying to turn around for a second run.Hope he recovers quickly. UCC could only manage 106/9 in 25.2 overs. Defending that would be a tough ask against a strong WCC batting.

Palash and Sameer opened the proceedings for WCC. Both started cautiously and Palash(3) looked solid playing with a straight bat and leaving the good ones. His stay was brief when Viren took an outstanding one handed reflex catch. Madhu the newest debutant for WCC who could not showcase his talent with the ball went in at no 3 and impressed every one with the bat playing some exquisitely timed cover drives. Sameer on the other end was busy accumulating runs.They had a good 49 run partnership before Madhu(22) was adjudged LBW. Sameer(33) soon followed him when he skied one and was nicely taken. Thoufiq(9) and Kal(22) got some invaluable match practice and finished off in the 29th over.

Overall it was an impressive performance by WCC winning so comprehensively over UCC who,are considered as contenders for the championship this season.
