Washington Cricket Club WCC-WMCB v Strikers on Sun 24 Jul 2011 at 10:00 AM
Washington Cricket Club Won by 64 runs

Match report WCC beat Strikers by 64 runs, very good win.

Climate - Very Very HOT day, luckily we won toss and elected to bat first, very light clouds above and did not feel much heat. We opened with a new
pair, Sharath and Raj, and right from the first over they put on heat on the opposition bowlers by scoring boundaries, Raj(18) in particular was in
great mood, but got caught for trying to hit out. Sailesh joined Sharath and both played cautiously, and Sharath(31) fell soon while trying to
glance it leg-side, but played a very good knock and he is back among runs, which is good for himself and the team for the coming matches. Tarun(3)
was in next and fell soon again to a leg side wicket-keeper catch, ball kept low. Ravi and Sailesh had to build the partnership as we were 60/3 in
12 overs. Sailesh again played blinder of innings, scoring fours at will and teared down the opposition as they had no clue to his batting shots, he
scored 9 fours and a six in his knock of 52, but got out trying for slog. A well made half century and a good 50+ run partnership. Viral came in
next and during the second break we were 120/4 in 20 overs. Ravi(16) got clean bowled as he misread the yorker bowl. Pratik was the next batsman,
Viral started to go for the big shots was able to connect some balls and cleared the ropes, but could not hang around for some more time and got
caught by keeper for 18 runs. Meanwhile Pratik was in good form and we were in little bit of trouble as we had doubts if we can reach around 200,
but Pratik played very good shots and made sure the momentum is with us and contributed a vital 33 runs and with 5 overs to go Anil(9), Breeze(11),
Yasir(5) and Ankit made sure we reached more than 200, infact ended with 223 all out with 3 balls to spare (34.3 Overs).

Strikers were confident that they can chase this score when we heard their conversation during the break. As usual Anil started the proceedings, and
bowled line and length, and Sharath from the other end bowled meticulously. Sharath got the first two breaks by cleaning up their batsman. None of
their batsman had the talent and technique to face a good bowling attack. Except for their batsman Yasir(84) others could not contribute much, as we
bowled very good and supported by our fielders, we did not give any much extras too. Excellent bowling by Sailesh(1), Breeze(2), Ankit(2) and Viral
(1). Strikers did well to stretch the match till the last over as they never went for runs, instead trying to play for the full quota of 35 overs,
but Ankit made sure to pick up last wicket and get them all out with 2 balls to spare. Overall a very good all round performance, but there is lot of
scope for improvements, lets keep focusing on our own talent and justify it to the best of our abilities.

Always remember the 4T's - Talent, Technique, Temperament and Time Management (batting first - play out full quota).
